Harley Sportster 883 jump battery question?
I have a chrome cover on my Battery but I can see a very small portion of the positive terminal, nothing I can clamp onto with booster cables, so short of taking everything apart and risking blowing up the battery that boosts my harley since it is a tight squeeze, do the wrecker drivers have a positive probe that is insulated that they can put safely on the minimally exposed positive terminal? P.s. I know you can run the bike down hill and get it started. This is for when there aren’t any hills unless someone pushes me with their bumper or I get towed behind someone with a rope. joke..
the battery is fine, this is just a hypothetical question in case my battery dies while Im out riding
Usually you can find a hill and compression start it but if you can’t do that look behind the plate that has the three screws in it. There are some breakers. You might be able to clamp some small jumper cables to the battery side of the main breaker and to any bare metal ground.
IMO The best thing to do is get a battery tender with a harness and the clamp adapters. You can keep the clamp adapters in your tool bag and plug them into the battery tender harness if you need a jump.
