harley davidson restoration project ideas needed?
I picked up a 1986 wide glide from a buddy. Runs great but needs the major cleaning. I will explain what I have to do and any product suggestions will be appreciated.
I have rust only everywhere. The frame is fine but most of the chrome is pitted and rusted. Without having to replace all of it any ideas ?
The block and the fins where painted and now they are flaking. Any ideas on types of paint I can use or should I just send it out?

If the chrome is too far gone to polish back to a decent shine you can have it powder coated. Chroming is really expensive these days but powder is pretty reasonable. I have seen powder coated heads and cylinders, DO NOT do this. The powder acts as insulation and will cause your motor to run hotter. Like Choppy said BBQ paint or VHT high temp paint.
