what is the best and cheapest way to add horsepower to my Harley Davidson Sportster 1200?

Just about every Harley model responds well to more free flowing exhaust pipes and air intake system. New pipes can be expensive, but fortunately, the stock Sportster mufflers are easily modified by knocking the one baffle plate from the middle of the tube. What you have left is a straight through glass pack muffler with stock looks and a nice mellow sound. The K&N company will supply the new airfilter.
On carb models a few simple jet changes will make the most out of you modifications, fuel injected models may have to have a little more electrical wizardry (K&N Power Commander) for maximum results
