finding out the registration information on my stolen 1965 harley davidson?

my 1965 harley shovel head sportster was stolen from me some years back but since its a 65 it only has a 10 number vin. so when i do a vin search it doesnt show up being that vin numbers are 17 characters but my bike is still stolen and i would still like to have it back but no one will do a damn thing to help me find it not even the sheriffs dept in the city where the bike is said to still be rode so how can i recover my bike

Check with your states Registry of Motor Vehicles, and see how they list the VIN for your bike. Then when you do a search use their format.
