I have a crack in my cam sensor?
I brought my 2006 harley davidson street glide to the agency because it was not starting. The mechanic told me there a leak in my fuel line and a crack in the cam sensor. I think it was sad inside because I would have to remove the motor for repair. How could have happened? I have asked around and no one has ever heard of that happening?
As Andy said, how does cracking if you have to pull the motor to reach her? I had the plastic outer casing crack on ignition coils and the cam sensor (technically it is a Hall effect sensor) is basically a small ignition coil, so I guess it could happen. Most likely what happened is that the varnish insulation on the wire coil inside the tube is broken, leaving it to be short. This prevents the sensor to produce an electrical pulse signal, which is what the power unit used to know when to fire the spark plug.
