I need to find someone who is experienced in Harley Sportster timing/engine issues. It concerns a 2002 XL1200c?
I am trying to help a friend of mine repair his bike from seven states away. I have worked for Harley for 15 years so I am not a novice but I would like some opinions on this. The problem is concerning the pinion gear and timing. According to my friend (who is also a trained Harley mechanic), his pinion gear is 3 teeth off from the timing mark and he says that the cam is not lining up. I have asked him for a chronological list of the repairs he has made over the last couple of months. I know that he replaced his ignition system and now he says that the motor is blown. I have also asked him for any details concerning his crank pin because that is also something that he mentioned in his call to me.
