Best Motorcycles for shorter person?

My wife wants to get into motorcycling. She is 5’4 and full figured. She wants a cruiser style bike, but is afraid of the weight. Most she has tried, including my Harley are too big. She can’t sit comfortably on the bike. I suggested she look at the Sportsters, and if need be, we could get her a lower seat. But she thinks it will still be too tall. Any suggestions, I would like to hear from short statured riders, especially females.

The 883 Harley isn’t too tall, but too heavy? For me, oh yes.

My first bike was a Kawasaki kz 650. I loved it, and wish I still had it. But even adjusted, it was really too tall for me to handle safely. Also, I wasn’t very comfortable with the weight (475 lbs.). I had to lay it down once when learning. Took a corner the wrong way. I had to wrestle the thing back up (hard). Also had a difficult time rolling it backwards. And everyone will inevitably get into a situation where they need to roll the bike backwards.

Well, a Rebel is like 310 lbs. I like the sound of that much better. And the Qlink cruisers have warranties, when purchased from brick and mortar dealers brand new. They are similar weight to the Rebels. They can all handle freeway cruising at legal speeds, and have great mpg.

I wish I could find an American made bike that was a 250-500cc. Maybe there is one, and I don’t know about it.
