What direction is Harley Softail fork springs go?
I have a Softail Custom 1989 with a White Bros. down front game. I recently removed front suspension to replace regulators lower. When I took the time spring tubes, the good end of the spring was wound down towards the ground. In reviewing the service manual and manual, it appears that the final good must be wound up. Which way is correct and why? Thanks.
I've always installed too tightly wound into the spring. Unless the extra legs are shorter or more must change the size of the spring.
