Harley Softail Transmission Oil Change
I want to change the transmission oil in my Harley Davidson Softail 2006, how do I do?
Normally I would say the same as rest of the people here …… BUY A FREAKIN'!!!!! MANUAL But I'm in a good mood today …. so here goes …. First ….. STOP HD "S BOARD OF OIL IN THE TRANS SPECIAL !!!!!!! As much as I love HD …. I hate to say, but H does not know SH * T on synthetic oil. 3 SYNTHETIC BEST HARLEY ARE ……# 1-AMSOIL, # 2-LUCAS, # 3 Mobil 1 (which is recommended by S & S). I've been working in high definition and construction of high performance engines, racing resistance and test setting for 20 years and have been running Amsoil for years without a single problem. FIRST OFF ……… RUN NO HD SYN3 ….. GARBAGE IS ……… I am a certified HD Tech, and I tell you first hand …. HD NOT KNOW ABOUT THE CAT OIL !!!!!!!!! To deacdes, never said HD to run synthetic in engines, the reason …. bearings will skate "……… But ask anyone on the drag strip running a fuel above 800 HP the motor running ……. FULL SYNTHETIC ……. directed not to skate! By popular public demand, HD finally launched its new SYN3 in the early 2000's …… manufactured by Sunoco. SO …….. Like the other guys have said, synthetic running the engine of your refrigerator and lubricates much better than standard oil. In addition, HD, according to the service manual and owners, he says to run SAE 60 weight oil at temperatures above 80 degrees, after their reccomendations, they tell you to run 20/50 synthetic cooler weather then SAE 60 in warmer temperatures, no maje in synthetic SAE 60, so it will change back and forth ….. AMSOIL is the only manufacturer of synthetic SAE 60 …. run this summer and will run cooler and have a higher oil pressure does not dissipate as much heat-up 20 / 50 ago. For the 20/50 primary synthetic is fine, just DO NOT use the HD Formula + oil aftermarket clutches, which will that the friction material break and disintegrate. As for the HD transmission, says you can run 20/50, but the body knows anything about broadcasting knows that this is a shit, a transsexual needs GEAR OIL, 20/50 is too thin and makes transport difficult to change and noise …… minimum running 75/90 gear oil …… hands absolute best transmission oil in the market is thick line RED shockproof synthetic complete … transport that will run smoother, quieter and easier to change. Check out this site ….. http://www.harley-performance.com/amsoil http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?p … … Just a note ….. make sure you use synthetic oil designed for motorcycles, not oil, automotive …. this is critical to the primary. automotive oils contain modifiers fristion which will cause the clutches to slip and burn. Now …. to change the trans oil …. Bike heated to operating temperature VERTICAL bike standing straight and level plug drainage is in trans-European networks between shocks, the use of 1 / 4 "with Allen making 3-inch extension on a ratchet to reach it. Pull the plug, drain. Clean the drain plug, replace the O-ring HD # 11105, use Teflon thread sealant on the threads and reinstall. Fill transport GEAR OIL !!!!! 75/90 minimum weight, BEST IS RED LINE. oil transport capacity is 24 oz
