Considering a Harley 1200 Sportster Low vs VStar 950?
i’m looking for a cruiser that does well on the freeway for comfort and power. I think the 950 would be better than the sportster but i don’t know for sure. my daily 1-way commute is 75mi (palm springs, ca). which bike would be better?
commuting 75mi sounds better than 150mi round trip 
i’m not considering a dual sport bike because of my height – 5′-2″, 29in inseam. every dual sport/sportbike i’ve sat on are too tall and it would be too expensive to modify the bike to fit me.
i’ve checked out both bikes and i fit fine on both. i like them equally which is why i’m undecided. if i could get a harley, a vstar and a buell, i would be great! but for now it can only be 1.
i’ve looked into the vulcan 900 and found that it’s heavier than what i can handle for now and the seat height is a bit too high. i am impressed that it’s fuel injected, liquid cooled and a belt drive.

That “Harley will give you full trade in later on if you wanna upgrade” is within a year, and you gotta get one of the more expensive Harleys.
Either bike will last 100,000 miles (three years!) with regular oil changes. The V-Star is nearly $2K less to start. Have you looked at Suzuki’s C50?
With the miles you will be putting on you might want to consider switching to the Dark Side when you need new tires — high mileage automobile tires.
