My Harley evo Sportster 883 will not start and gas pours out of the overflow tube? ?

I’m building a bike using a 2000 Sportster 883. Every time I go to start it, the engine turns over but it doesn’t start. Then gas pours out of the overflow tube. I’ve checked for spark and just replaced the ignition module. I have also rebuilt the carb and adjusted the float a while back. Should I go through the carb again and re-adjust the float and clean it? I’m trying to avoid purchasing an aftermarket carb (which are much better) because money is tight. Thank you for the help.

The CV carb is a great carb ,if it is set up right. I get better gas mileage,better starting and better throttle responce then I ever did with an S&S carb. At the expense of about 5 miles an hour top speed. Follow this link to understand your Cv a little better,and information on how to easily set the float,and other adjusments. It is actually a Kawasaki sight, but you have the same carb as a Vulcan or a KLR 650. http://www.gadgetjq.com/keihin_carb.htm . Don’t do any modifications to the carb,until you get the float problem worked out. And yes this could be why it won’t start
