are the dimensions on a Harley Sportser motor on 883 or 1200 motor?
I have a war eagle frame chopper and I have an 1997 883 sportser motor on it, or I should say had, some one stole the motor from my garage while I was getting the frame re-painted. I’m thinking of getting the sportster 1200 in but don’t know if the dimensions externally the same on the 883 and 1200, also what other harley motor can I put in other than the sportsers? I thought of an SS but I know I can’t afford it nor do I know if of will fit any ideas? I don’t want to do much modifiying.
the motor sizes are identical – the 1200 has .5 inch wider bore but the stroke is the same.
the 1200 tranny is geared slightly different, but harley sells 1200 upgrades for the 883′s and don’t recommend tranny changes.
A motor from any other class Harley won’t fit.
