Harley Sportster Luggage
Choices for Harley Sportster backrest?
I recently bought a 2000 883 Sportster. I plan to buy a backrest for my girlfriend but it’s difficult to picture what a particular backrest would look like on the bike. Are there any catalogs or sites that have decent pics of the backrests installed? I want to keep the bike’s lines as clean as possible and I don’t need a luggage rack, but I want something nice for her.
Does this bike have the mounting hardware for the detachable backrest or not?
That is going to determine what backrest you can get.
Harley Sportster Luggage

In the first part of this series I wrote about LDR (long distance riding) in general. The fact is that people can do it easily if the driver Sportster has a good attitude and do not want to experience luxury sofa. The opinions on what is LDR vary, some 1000 miles LDR is in 24 hours, others may be a trip lasting a month.
But what could be done to make the journey a little more comfortable? Some adjustments may be small and cheap place. We will not take the wind away, just to make life a little easier. These all days has some kind of electrical device. They are good but need to be recharged. When camping, no electricity. These wonders are Useful power on the way: GPS, radio, camera, MP3 player, Internet and software blog, you can even reside in a frame. But even with a single division, may need to be recharged.
I think from a 12V cigarette lighter adapter is the best value for money exchange everyone could do it. At $ 10.20, have endless supply of electricity for their articles, air pumps, etc. Even if you know nothing on electricity, this change is very easy indeed. Auto stores were also dozens of luxury items that run on 12V, as coffee and other (which will run slower than households).
An important, perhaps too obvious, complete the sissy bar. A large quantity Luggage can be plugged into the back of it, leaving other parts of the bike free. This, of course, requires that the plate registration move off the road. (At least in countries that have ridiculously large plates, Finland included)
Another adaptation that I love really is to have the license plate moved to the left side of the bike from its original position. Thus, a large amount Luggage can be connected to the bar back a mate, leaving the passenger seat free for other uses. Technically, it may be contrary the law because the panel must be visible in all directions, but I have not heard of one case (where I live) that someone was fined for that. I guess it depends on the policy of the local police. Remember to use a license plate light to make a good printing.
A tool roll or two may be in order, to release pockets to carry small things. Thus, the elements are constantly on the bike and do not forget. You can place the link at the bottom to help keep the center of gravity right.
There are more tricks, like adding a pair of fastening straps on the seat in a way that can connect things to the area of passenger seat without having to fetch bands. Or just something about the role of the tool or to roll your jacket.
My to-do list includes a beam to the auxiliary lamp standard is not quite right. A roadside bar would also be useful, regardless of the aesthetics of it. This would allow some changes easier.
