Tryin to install new battery in 1991 Harley Sportster. It was unassembled. What order bolts, cable washers go?
The 1991 Harley Sportster I got came with the battery out. Since I’m extremely new at maintenance, I don’t know if I’m putting in the new one correctly or not. There is a bolt, the wire ring, a washer, a “spacer” (metal piece that adds over 1/4″) that should go somewhere over the bolt and a nut. I don’t know what order this should go in. When I tried to connect it, I got headlights, horn and all to come on, but the starter just made a clicking sound. No turnover. Anyone have a diagram or photo on how the terminal connections /’ parts should be threaded? I’ve looked for almost 2 hours online. And no, it didn’t come with a service manual.
Put it on a trailer genius. If you cannot figure out how to install a battery please do not attempt any of your own maintenance. Only a harley guy would ask something like this, have fun with the skirtster. Why not remove the baffles and rev the throttle at every stop too.
