2007 Harley Davidson 1200c?

I am looking at purchasing a 2007 Harley Sportster. I was looking at the 883 becasue of the price and was wondering if I would be better off paying a few more thousand and getting the 1200? Is there really that much more power in the 1200 as oposed to the 883? Does anyone know the top speeds of these bikes and will I be able to pass someone with enough power if I need to with the 883?

There is a significant difference in power and top speed.
The 883, being a smaller motor has shorter gearing making the main difference between it and the 1200 the top speed.
If you are an experienced rider and are concerned with HP and top speed, get the 1200, it will take you longer to grow out of allowing you more time to decide if you want a Softail or a Dyna.
A P.S. the 1200 will sell for more used,so you will recoup part of the extra you spend now.
