Have you been to an unusual wedding?

One of my nieces had what she jokingly called a redneck wedding. They were married at the tree grove on the riverbank. The bride wore a beautiful strapless wedding gown revealing a large Harley Davidson motorcycle tattoo on her right shoulder. The groom was handsome in suit & tie, very nervous for his first trip to the altar. The best-man wore hunting boots with his brown suit and the flower girl chased the ring bearer up and down the dirt path aisle. All of the bride’s and groom’s children from previous relationships were included in the ceremony. I was touched by the sincerity of the couple when they took their wedding vows. I wish them happiness.

One of the best was one Halloween, the bride wore green velvet in the true royal style of the medieval times, the groom in leggings and tunic, the minister in a monks robe. The flower girl with fairy wings and the ring bearer clothed as a page. Their children were also a part of the ceremony, the brides daughter as a royal princess and both sons dressed as princes stood with their mother, the grooms son and nephews stood for him also dressed as royal house members. The guests were asked to come wearing a costume of the time, and the people putting on the feast were all dressed as well kept peasants. They had barbecued meats and roasted potatoes and corn, ale served in steins, and music played by Renaissance fair musicians. They had a jester and two wizards one from each court, there were elves, several children done up as pixies and fairies a couple boys done up a gnomes and even a three eyed ogre. They even had a touch of scandal as a knight showed up to challenge the groom for the brides hand. The father of the groom and king of their court had the deposed knight removed and thrown in chains. (not for real). All in all it was held outside and as night fell torches appeared and was lit, the neighborhood children started making their rounds and many of them stood and stared in awe as if their fairy-tales had just come to life. Each child was given a piece of old fashioned hard rock candy and a piece of fruit. Another thing that made the wedding so special to me was that it was my step sisters wedding, I attended as a half elven hunter/warrior and the brides personal guard. What a blast.
