Which of these bikes would be best in your opinion?
I was able to get approved for a motorcycle at the Harley Davidson dealership. I’m looking at 2 used ones. One is a 2008 Buell Blast with 5k miles, the other is a 2004 Sportster XL 883 with 10k miles. I really like the look of the sportster it looks gorgeous, however I do love the buell blast too as its the bike i learned to ride on in their MSF course. I’ll be mostly in town riding, with occasional trips on the highway. Does the blast have enough power to be on the highway with enough to pull ahead if needed? How long do Harley Motorcycles usually last? Is the mileage bad at all? Thanks

As a bike, I would choose the Blast (I own one). But it may be a poor investment, since Buell is no longer in business. By law, H-D has to provide parts for all Buells for 7 years. After that, who knows?
So the H-D 883 may be the better buy. I owned a 2005 Sportster 1200 and found it to be lacking in power compared to my Buell XB9S Lightning, and lacking in ground clearance. But I am more of a sport rider anyway. The 883 can grow with you. If you want more power later, you can trade it in or add a 1200cc kit to the motor. I doubt that there’s any problem with the 883. 10,000 miles is not much and H-D owners are generally fastidious about their bikes. With proper maintenance any bike can last for ages. I have a 29-year-old Honda.
